A1 Savannahs Celebrates

World's first Savannah Cat to win Supreme Grand Champion Title

Congratulations to SGC A1 Savannahs Lightning

owned and loved by Janet Spain

In TICA, this is the highest title awarded to cats in the championship classes. A cat must first become a Quadruple Grand Champion before it can begin to compete towards the title of Supreme Grand Champion.

In the Savannah breed world, no other cat before has ever achieved this.

Kathrin Stucki of A1 Savannahs

Having had the pleasure of being associated with Kathrin Stucki of A1 Savannahs for a while and having now met her during a recent visit to the USA (April 2009), at her cattery, I would like to write, briefly, about her. [...] From my point of view (I am not in the cat fancy but write about it) A1 Savannahs seems a large and very professionally managed cattery. Great emphasis is placed on quality in respect of the appearance, socialization and health of their cats. See full article.

Kathrin Stucki flies to Brazil to get certified in the Thermography course for Veterinary Medicine. A course offered by the veterinarian and thermography specialist Dr. Solange Mikail. The course is specifically designed to take and evaluate thermography images of exotic animals.

The special invitation to the night visit of the national zoo allowed behind the scenes entry to all of the big and small cats. Kathrin was as interested in working with the images of adult Servals and Savannah cats as she enjoyed to learn more about the Snow Leopards, the Tigers or the arthritic problems of the Hippo that was examined by Doctor Mikail.

A1 Savannahs - Protagonist in including advanced US Military technology into their routine Serval Hybrid care program.

A1 Savannahs is using the latest FLIR Thermography cameras.

The infrared heat that an animal emits from its body can be "viewed" with an infrared camera. The heat patterns that can be seen, show a trained practitioner how the blood flow is normal, or abnormal, in a particular animal. Blood flow can be either increased or decreased, both indications of health problems.

Unlike X-Ray or Ultrasound, Thermography doesn't radiate waves and therefore it is a save, non-invasive, but reliable diagnostic tool. A1 Savannahs Thermography cameras complete the preventive health care program designed to detect health problems before they show clinical signs.

Customers are going wild over cats bred in Ponca City.

The Oklahoman Newspaper, By Jennifer Palmer

Visitors to A1 Savannahs have included movie stars and famous athletes, as well as regular folks, searching for a furry companion that might raise an eyebrow or two. The cats, which are bred from wild African servals, can be as big as a toddler, pounce 7-feet in the air and run alongside their owner.

On a recent afternoon at the rural farm, owned by Martin and Kathrin Stucki, dozens of cats sauntered back and forth in their cages. They feasted on raw chicken legs and, when taunted, playfully batted at a feather dangling from a stick.. see full article

October 17, 2009 -- A1 Savannahs is the latest facility to be accredited by the Feline Conservation Federation, an international non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and propagating wild felids.
This facility joins other USDA licensed zoos, sanctuaries, educational centers, breeding compounds, and private owners who comprise the growing list of FCF accredited facilities.
A1 Savannahs, located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, was also approved for FCF accreditation. A1 Savannahs is owned and operated by Martin and Kathrin Stucki. The FCF accreditation board judged A1 Savannahs to be operating with excellence in both facility management and feline husbandry.
"This is a step in the right direction", says Mr. Callahan, adding, "It is important for professional breeders that raise and breed servals to meet high standards of husbandry."
As an FCF accredited facility A1 Savannahs will raise the bar for others and set a positive example about the importance of supporting conservation of wild felids, including servals, which are used in breeding programs to create the exotic hybrid known as Savannahs.
The FCF accreditation is the seal of approval that assures donors, the media, and members of the public that accredited facilities are operating with the highest level of husbandry and management practices, encouraging emulation by others.

Exotic cats bred as pets

By Jennifer Pierce, NEWS 9

Martin and Kathrin Stucki claim to have bred the perfect cat. It's a mix of wild and domesticated. And if it sounds dangerous, the couple says it's only wild in appearance.

"It's the first time ever possible to have a cat with a wild appearance, that has a domesticated personality," Kathrin Stucki said.

A full grown Savannah is the size of a small dog, it even walks on a leash and if it's trained it will play fetch.

"It's very easy to train them to play fetch," Kathrin Stucki said. "They bring toys back faster than my dog." ... see full article
